Feeling Catty

She wants him to come closer, she is waiting for him to come closer, and he does. He places his hands on her shoulders to let her know he is there and then, ready to embrace her, he follows the curves of her arms with his fingers. She hesistates, thinking for a moment of what she is giving up for him and pulls away. It's her last day of being a girl. Tomorrow she will be a woman. Her distance lasts only 3 heartbeats for he is behind her once more and let's her know again that he is there. She turns her attention to the left, but he is there. Their eyes meet. She turns to the right, almost to escape now, but faster than she is he. The thought of giving up her freedom makes her a little sad and yet, she loves him. She wants to be with him. He too with her. Now facing each other they frame their embrace and, heart to heart, the closest now, they circle left, a full rotation and the sequence ends... for now.

Like The Polka, it's one of the sequence of steps we have been working on on and off for a few weeks in dancing class. I was trying to get into the part, but couldn't really connect with this "girl character" i was playing until my professor laid out the sincero as written above. She is this really artisic type- damanding and yatchy and I've seen kids willingly accept the harsh criticizm she sometimes dishes out. But like the other artists types I have known, she pulls something out of our souls. In exchange, we willing take her crap and even ask for more. So after picking on my left leg and my toes for the first half of class, when she said "Dorota, listen to me now because this is important" and then proceeded to lay out description written above of two young people on their wedding day, I was moved to tears. Yeah, I know I'm a sap (not my fault though), but the steps with the music and this idea was really a beautiful thing.

The erotic cat sequence (which is maybe more playful than erotic) in Styl i Gest was equally as cool today. Maybe it's my new white skirt, the different partner I had, or just the fact I am starting to get it, but I kinda dig this cat thing. Meow!
