I Decide Who Lives or Dies
I have just about 3 days left in the good ol' US of A. It is always hard to leave Wyalusing behind with all my books, lounge clothes, and of course, Kellie. I suffered two lectures before leaving this time, one from Robert and one from Mom-mom about how I need to get a hold of myself and just return to the States and finish at Southern. Sigh. Why doesn't anyone appreciate my adventurous spirit?
So I drove to Souderton last night and Bryce picked me up this morning. We spent the afternoon watching one of my all-time favorite shows, "Law & Order", and then went to a little coffee shop we found by accident in Hamburg. The owner is a friendly young guy who is slightly frustrated that the ol' cheap Pennsylvania Dutch folk aren't jumping at the chance to experience coffee culture. The espresso there is so-so, but the atmosphere is sweet with art work on the walls and tables and a small collection of books. There is even a leather sofa! While we were there, I realized how cool it would be to start such a place like that of my own. It seems quite natural if some of my favorite things to do are sit around, drink something nice, chat, and read poetry. In brainstorming, I decided the place should have a studio upstairs for music and dancing, with the cafe downstairs. On the walls will be Mike's photography and Ania's paintings, we will play American Standard tunes, and then perhaps there will be a small store a la Dolly where my recordings, memoirs, and poetry will be for sale, as well as some dresses I have designed, my mobiles, and anything else I deem "artsy." It will all work marvelously, especially if Bryce really ends up getting his MBA.
We'll probably spend the rest of the evening watching films- we're watching "Casablanca", my 5th time (can't get enough, I think I'm falling in love with Humphrey), and then I think we are going to watch "The Terminal" after this. If the espresso keeps us up into the night, we'll swing by our very favorite 24 hour diner for a very early breakfast.
