Bush 'denotes' visiting Polish leader
It's 2 day old news, but news to me. This is how I found it:
"Washington - American President George Bush often calls Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski "friend", but on Wednesday he bestowed a different title as they met in the Oval Office: "Mr Prime Minister".
Referring to a possible end to a longstanding dispute over visas for Polish citizens travelling to the United States, Bush said: "I want to thank you for your leadership on that issue, Mr Prime Minister."
Kwasniewski did not seem troubled, but he quietly said "president", prompting Bush to correct himself quickly: "I mean, Mr President. Excuse me."
"I demoted him," Bush quipped, adding: "Well, it's not a demotion - it's a lateral transfer."
The US president occasionally has trouble with world leaders' titles and sometimes their names.
On Monday, he referred to newly elected Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas as "prime minister" and in several speeches last week referred to him as "Abu Abbas" - an apparent mix-up with Abbas' alias, "Abu Mazen". - Sapa-AFP"
Way to stick your foot in your mouth George. Geeze. Although the Poles have told me themselves that Alex doesn't have any real power as a president anyway- he's more of a figure head.
I'm not sure how I feel on the whole issue re: visas for Poles. I mean, they are having a jolly good time revenging Americans like Mike and I since they can't see the gold paved roads. I wouldn't care so much if there weren't already so many illegal immigrants in the States who do nothing but make babies, committ crimes, refuse to learn English, etc. I mean, I know America is a country of immigrants, and I know Americans did the Natives wrong in obtaining large areas of the continent, BUT, to once again restate my stance on remaining true to home soil: if everyone who wanted a better life left Poland (or any country for that matter) to obtain it in America, what will happen to the home country? If you want to come to the States and gain some wealth, quality education, cultural experience, fine. But take it home then and improve where you came from. That's my take dudes. And it's also why I am in Poland instead of a nice, warm, tropical country. I felt I owed it to my heritage to return and give something back, and I don't think that is a stupid thing to say. The bottom line? Down with moochers and lazy people! And someone should help George W. with his 'who's who' in current events.
In other news, my beautiful sister has started her own blog! And believe it or not, she is even wittier and funnier than me, and makes far less spelling errors! I've put her in my 'link' section, so check her out!
