I'm a snob, what of it? -or- Spring flies!

I actually don't want to continue in my snobbish habits, and it's even strangely humorous how an unestablished person whose only personal belongings are clothes and books could be snobby, but sitting at the Philharmonic Sunday night with Peter only proved that one need not wealth or skills to be a snob. I have never heard (huge over statement) music butchered the way the soprano (whose name she is lucky I made a point never to learn in the first place) hacked up tunes such as "Summertime" and "I could have danced all night." More than this, I was extremely offended by her hips, which she seemed to particularly delight in swaying and swooshing around the stage in her larger-than-life hoop skirt. The main attraction was the tenor, Boguslaw cos tam, who loved himself perhaps even more than Pani Edyta (okay, so I do remember her first name), if that is even possible. I don't care how many thousands of CD's he has sold, in my opinion, the standing ovation which I sat for was far from earned in comparison with other great concerts I have heard!

On the way home:

My snobbism continued into Polish class on today's lesson with the teacher in training. I'm sorry, but those chics really know nothing and Polish teachers in general really think they are gods of the classroom. You cannot explain verb-noun transformations to me as if I were Polish. Futhermore, she didn't give us time to write things down, she didn't write answers on the board, and she expected me to name appliances and tools which whose names I would know even in English! So I just ended up tuning her out. Listen, I am not saying that I was always the greatest teacher from the get-go, but my students weren't paying me a 1074 PL to teach either. So I admit to being a little narfy and chippish, furthermore snobbish but I don't think I was completely unjustified.

There is a fly in my room. How he got there I do not know but it tells me something and that something is the earth is starting to wake up!!! Today was the first time since November that my toes didn't turn into ice cubes in my boots. My faith is stronger now! Spring really is just around the rotunda! ;P

You forgot about Boguslaw's brother, Ryszard Morka, the bass. ;-)

You are not a snob, just critical of music in general. That is exactly how you are with yourself! Whenever you sing, you are always hard on yourself and will always find something about your performance that you would like to go back and change.

Not to mention the fact that there are people out there that should not be in the profession that they are in, like a certain someone (who shall remain nameless) who is going to invade my world of nursing when he really should just go play in the dirt somewhere. But I digress. . . .
