Life since Tuesday

Thriving, active, and more Jewish than ever is the best way to describe me after this week. A calming lull has fallen over the co-existance of work and school in my life after 3 weeks of irregularity prior when either The School of English or the Academy were on winter holiday. Now I am once again up at 6, in bed at 10, teaching and singing as I go.

Polish class is really 'heavy' as far as work load, but meeting Tuesday-Thursday 8:30-11 instead of Monday-Wednesday 1:30-3 has opened up all sorts of wonderful time slots in my schedule, allowing me to be home at a well-dressed (decent) hour Monday, Tuesday, and Wedesday. Thursdays are still jam packed, no changing that, but enjoyable on the whole when trains leave and arrive at their appropriate stops. I missed work last Thursday thanks to a PKP last minute re-route that had me trying to cover over a mile's worth of territory in 5 minutes. Instead of the train, I caught a wicked migraine and that's how goes yet another Thursday evening when instead of relaxing and poetry-ing, I'm lying in bed trying not to think about the sledge hammer wacking my skull with each heart beat.

Mothering MAK is on a new level as of late since he can now jump distances of at least 4 feet far and 2 feet high in a single leap, landing on the kitchen table. I can no longer leave any books, papers, and electronic chord laying around anywhere when absent. Its great practice in reponsibility (not that I needed more) and educational as well. Did you know bunnies will eat wax candles and can cling to things in a squirrel like manner?

Leon (Lev) Maschak has also arrived safetly, so instead of waiting in anticipation, we can finally say that the good times are here. Friday, Lev, Joe Smoczynski and myself all went synagogue hopping. The priest (??) leading out in the service at the last synagogue we went to where we stayed to the end and ate, is actually only here with his wife for month from the States. Priest by night, computer teacher by the day, or something like that. He said 'I've always heard about Jewish woman with hair like yours, but until now I had never actually seen it.' I regrettably had to admit to only being a pseduo-Jew.

Yesterday was a 'Kris day' including lunch at his house with his family. Whoa, talk about nervous! I felt really stupid sitting there unable to express myself intelligently, but we had a good time with lots of laughs. Afterwards, Kris and I went to see 'Hitch', a good choice in retrospect. The story line had a few cohesive problems, but the comedy aspect was quite sucessful- lots of laughs.
