Troche sie boje
It's really cool that Poland is getting so much recognition, but it's crazy here, and even scary, as I have written in the title. When you see how serious people are about this Pope, and how possessed they are almost in commemorating him, and the things they say about him like, 'He'll always be with us, He is speaking to us even now..." I get totally freaked out. They are playing songs on the radio with the Pope's voice over an instrumental backing.
Some interesting articles:

There were 150 thousand people at the Plac Pilsudskiego on Tuesday. Peter said he could hardly walk home through the thronging crowd. I just think how much man power exists, oozing out of no where at the death of one man.
I do hope though that the Poles get their wish and PJP's heart will rest in Wawel. I am furthermore thrilled to read CNN remain true to the Polish spellings of cities and places ie Krakow not Crakow, Wawel not Vavel (though I have actually never seen it spelled that way.)
Furthermore, the church CNN so casually refers to where Chopin's heart is just so happens to stand across the street from WU and I walk by it whenever I go to my Polish lessons. I've also spent some serious prayer time inside- is praying in a catholic church another determining factor of a lifestyle not in accordance with the SDA church? Sigh...

I was hoping to see Dolly live on TV some time this week!! ;) Haven't I seen that first church before?? A long time ago in one of your blogs.. maybe i'm wrong but I'm almost positive I've seen that building on here!! :D It must be nice to be in Poland where all the action is happening and u can be part of all this history happening!
Some awesome pictures sis! ALSO I don't think that God is picky about where we pray.
Luv ya lots!
This is the comment that I tried to publish the other day and stupid thing would not let me. . .so here it is. . . .
A friend and I and some other people were talking about the whole thing the other day and we find the whole situation to be very contradictory.
Theoretically the pope is "infallible" (I read this in EGW the other morning) yet despite this infallibility he is dead. Not to mention the fact that he has been bestowed all these special abilities from God yet it does not seem that God saw fit to make him immortal or untouchable by sickness.
Being a potential nurse in the making I heard about some of the things he was suffering from and they were no drop in the bucket. The man was really suffering. I feel bad for that.
Another fine point made by my friend was that he could not believe that this man lived his entire life celibate. I could care less whether the pope is doing the hanky panky or not. To me he is just another person that just so happens to have a mighty big influence over the world because of the wrecked state we are in because of sin.
I work in a Catholic hospital now and I asked my charge nurse the other day how people are handling the pope's death and he simply replied that there are more SDA's working at Memorial then Catholics which I find to be quite humorous and really very fabulous at the same time.
Yeah, I hear ya Patti; I often can't get through to post a comment.
Dolly, I heard that there were closer to 250,000 people there the other day; my bus was rerouted and the whole downtown was crammed with people and cars from all over Poland.
It seems that tonight is just as bad or worse; there's a scheduled candle-light vigil on the whole John Paul II Avenue, which is one of the main drags north/south through town, and they've shut it down completely, so I'll have to walk home, as I live at the northern end of it (it's at least 2-3 miles long). The whole week people have been putting candles along all the sidewalks on that street, and tonight they plan to put millions of candles in the street.
This whole drama that has been unfolding here is almost surreal; it's amazing what an effect this dude's death has had on the population. I can't believe people WANT to be sad and downtrodden, but that is what it looks like. A lot of people say they can't function anymore, without him. Great day!!! It's like the end of the world or something. This worshipping of the dead is not only shockingly unreal, but tragically blasphemous. I pray for all those millions upon millions of lost souls who think JP2 was some kind of deity, even God.
:+(((
